UCHECK MATE: Despite being held without a point for just the second time in her collegiate career versus St. Thomas, sophomore forward
Uchenna Kanu enters this as one of the most prolific scorers in the NAIA. Kanu ranks third in the nation in goals scored (21) and points (49). The Abia, Nigeria native netted the most single game goals in program history with five scores versus Thomas last week. She is averaging an astounding one goal per 41.5 minutes of play.
SOLOR BEAM: Freshman forward
Aisha Solorzano has established herself as a key contributor for the Fire. After eight shots on frame in her first five collegiate games, Solorzano found the back of the net for the first time in her college career versus St. Thomas. The Guatemala native also assisted on the other SEU goal to continue her assist streak to three straight games with a helper.
PREVIOUS ENCOUNTERS: The Fire earned the first win in program history over SCAD with last season's 3-0 handling of the Bees at home. They still trail the all-time series 1-7-1. SEU took the lead in the all-time series versus USCB 3-2 with last season's 3-0 win at home.
THE BEES: At one point, SCAD sat at 7-2-1 on the season and was a receiving votes team in the Coaches' Poll. However, the Bees have lost four of their last five, outscored 14-5 during that stretch, and haven't won on the road since 9/20 versus Warner. Freshman forward Nikki Abel has been steady for SCAD throughout the tumultuous turns of the season. Abel has netted five goals and leads the team in assists with five.
THE SAND SHARKS: Pending the results of tomorrow's match versus Webber International, USCB might look to earn its longest win streak of the season with what would be a third consecutive win. The Sand Sharks rank fourth in the conference in goals scored per game at 2.9. Leading the charge for USCB is senior forward Haley Pina, who is fresh off an eight point game against Ave Maria. Pina notched the second hat trick of her collegiate career while also dishing out two assists. The Culver City, Calif. leads the team in goals scored with eight.
FIRE FACTS:
- Sophomore forward Konya Plummer netted a hat trick versus the Sand Sharks last season, and also put one past the keeper versus the Bees.
- Senior defender Heidi Ruth had an assist in both matchups last season versus USCB and SCAD. Ruth also has one career goal versus the Sand Sharks.
- The Fire have not lost on their home pitch since 10/3/15, having won 17 straight at home, the second longest active streak in The Sun Conference.
