Women's Soccer Packs Bags for Pair of Conference Matches

Fire Look to Build Momentum on the Road versus Thomas and St. Thomas

LAKELAND, Fla. – After a tough loss on the road versus No. 8 Keiser last Wednesday, the No. 11 Southeastern University women's soccer team bounced back with a dominant 7-0 win over Florida Memorial on its home pitch Saturday. This marked the largest margin of victory in a regular season Sun Conference matchup in program history. The Fire look to continue the momentum as they embark on a pair of road conference matchups this week.

GAMES: Thomas (5-5-1, 2-3 TSC) vs. No. 11 Southeastern (8-1, 3-1 TSC) Wednesday 12:00 p.m. | St. Thomas (7-0-1, 4-0 TSC) vs. No. 11 Southeastern (8-1, 3-1 TSC) Saturday 7:00 p.m.

PLUMBELIEVABLE: Sophomore Konya Plummer has rapidly established herself as both an offensive and defensive powerhouse for the Fire. Plummer followed up her reign as Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Week with a nine point week in two games. The Epsom, St. Mary, native assisted on the lone goal versus Keiser before exploding with a four goal performance versus Florida Memorial. Plummer netted her career high in goals scored in just 29 minutes of match play. Her performance earned her TSC Offensive Player of the Week honors. Plummer is currently riding a six-game point streak in which she has scored eight goals, 68.4 percent of her shots have been on frame, and she and the fire back line have held opponents to an average of just 3.8 shots per contest.

PREVIOUS ENCOUNTERS: The Fire were a perfect 3-0 versus Thomas and St. Thomas last season. SEU defeated the Night Hawks 3-1 and the Bobcats 2-1 in the regular season before eliminating STU in the conference semifinals 3-0. Southeaster trails the all-time series to Thomas 4-1 and to St. Thomas 8-5.

THE NIGHT HAWKS: Thomas is looking to snap a run of back-to-back losses after dropping 3-1 result on the road to USCB before falling at home to Keiser 4-1. Thomas is averaging 2.6 goals per game in conference play thus far, while surrendering an average of 2. Senior forward Olivia Taylor is the standout threat for the Night Hawks. The Leeds, England native leads the team in goals (7) and assists (6), although she has only scored once in her last three contests.

THE BOBCATS: STU features one of the stingiest defensive fronts in the conference. The Bobcats are allowing just .38 goals per game and have not surrendered a multi-goal game in 2017. A sustained run of success for St. Thomas hinges upon a continued strong effort from graduate forward Jannel Johnson. The Citadel transfer has netted a team high 11 goals with no other player on the roster having scored more than three. Johnson is fresh off back to back multi goal games and has only been held scoreless once this season.
