Box Score LAKELAND, Fla.—It looked like they just might do it.
Down 2-1 after doubles play, the wins started piling up in singles play for the Fire women's tennis team. St. Thomas was able to come away with wins at #4, #5, and #6 singles to secure a thrilling 5-4 win.
Alexis Quinn and
Emily Acierno teamed up for a win at #1 doubles by a score of 8-5, and each won their singles match at #1 and #3, respectively. Quinn battled through a three-set match, winning 6-4, 1-6, 7-5. Acierno was a three-set winner as well with scores of 6-2, 5-7, 7-5.
Kelsi Black came away with a straight-sets win over her opponent at #2 singles.
The Fire return to action on Monday against California Lutheran at 12:30 p.m.
