Box Score LAKELAND, Fla.—Looking to bounce back from its first loss of the season, the Fire men's tennis team got off to a rocky start.
Trailing 2-1 after doubles play, the Fire came up with wins at the top three singles spots, and a win by retirement at #6 for a 5-4 win over NCAA Division III John Carroll University.
At #1 singles,
Jordan Harris ended up on top, winning the first set 7-5 and the last set 6-1, following a 6-2 setback in the second set. Freshman Max Nguyen won at #2 singles in straight sets (6-4, 6-1), and senior
Andrew Dickens won easily at #3 singles 6-0, 6-1.
SEU's lone doubles point was locked up by
Noah Rawls and
Aaron Skingley at #2, winning the eight-game pro set 8-5.
The Fire return to action tomorrow morning in Kissimmee against Davenport.
