LAKELAND, Fla. – The Southeastern women's basketball team has one regular season game to play before Sun Conference playoffs begin. Last week they moved to 12-3 in league play with a 70-64 loss to Thomas followed by a win over Webber and are currently tied for first place with the Webber Warriors.
The Fire ruled the first 20 minutes against Thomas, but the Night Hawks took their first lead in the third quarter then took over for good at the 8:28 mark of the fourth.
Christin Strawbridge led the Fire that night with 17 points.
Bailey Hooker finished with 16 and
Carlie Newman had 12, but the Fire were just 37% from the field to the Night Hawks' 54% effort and they were outrebounded 36-24.
Ten long balls and 51% shooting helped the Fire to a redeeming win over Webber.
Ali Sanders led the team with 19 points and was backed by
Carlie Newman who had a season high 18, 14 of which were in the first 20 minutes.
Alyssa Ramos and Strawbridge recorded 11 apiece to round out the double figures.
