Box Score AMERICUS, GA.-- The Southeastern women's basketball team was able to take down a pair of NCAA Division II teams this week, but they couldn't complete the trifecta as the Georgia Southwestern State Canes handed the Fire their first loss of the season, 83-66.
The Fire (4-1) shot 35% for the game and 36% from the arch. After the first period, the two teams were tied at 20. The Canes (4-0) took a 40-31 lead into the half after holding the Fire to only 11 points in the second period.
GSW started to pull away in the second half as they were supplemented by double-digit scoring performance from four of their five starters.
After the three game road trip, the Fire will take a week off for thanksgiving and will be back in action December 2 as they'll start Sun Conference play. The Webber International University Warriors will come to Lakeland. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
