Women's Soccer Looking to Get Back in Win Column

LAKELAND, FLA.-- It was a tough week for women's soccer as the Fire dropped a pair of games by a goal each.  They now stand at 6-3 with a 1-2 record in Sun Conference play.
The Fire held their own against #4 Keiser earlier in the week, but couldn't capitalize and lost 1-0.  Johanna Engberg netted her Sun Conference-leading 11th goal of the season.
Most recently, the Fire hosted the Johnson and Wales University Wildcats, but ended up losing 1-0 as well.  It was a 0-0 game until the 82nd minute when Isabella Moratti broke the tie and eventually gave the Wildcats the game.  The Fire outshot the Wildcats 25-2 in the contest, but couldn't find the back of the net.
The Fire have another pair of crucial Sun Conference games this week.  On Wednesday, the Fire will travel down to Miami Gardens to take on the St. Thomas University Bobcats, and will go down there again on Saturday to play the Florida Memorial Lions.
St. Thomas is 5-4 on the year so far and 1-2 in conference play.  They were receiving votes in the latest NAIA Top 25 Coaches Poll.
"They are a very organized team and we will need to defend their long-range shooting," said coach Renee Lopez.  "We're going to attack their back line with lots of numbers and high pressure; we need to shut down Jannel Johnson as she is very good at holding the ball and turning."
?Florida Memorial is 1-7 so far this year and 0-3 in Sun Conference play.  Alice Manu is their leading scorer with three goals scored.?
