Volleyball Drops Second Straight

Box Score LAKELAND, Fla.—Southeastern dropped a non-conference game to Florida College Tuesday night, falling 3-1 (25-22, 16-25, 25-18, 25-21).
 
The Fire (12-7) recorded 12 blocks as a team, but otherwise struggled to defend the Falcon attack, which recorded 64 kills and a .240 attacking percentage. Florida College also totaled seven aces on the night.
 
Florida College (21-5) recorded 20 kills in the first set, compared to SEU's nine, cruising to a three-point win.
 
Southeastern bounced back with a big win in the second set with 17 kills, no errors, and a .489 team attack percentage, getting a spark off the bench from freshman Grace Wentworth, who added two kills and a solo block. The Fire also dug in defensively, recording sideouts on 12 of 17 opportunities (70%).  
 
The Falcons came right back, recording 17 and 14 kills, respectively in the final two sets to finish out the night.
 
Leading the way for the Fire was Victoria Trueheart with 12 kills, a .344 attacking percentage, and a team-high 12 digs. Lindsey Fleming recorded a team-high 35 assists. Ashley Lanoue recorded four kills and seven blocks.
 
The Fire return to action Friday in Hialeah to take on Florida National.
