Fire Win Third in Three Days

Box Score

LAKELAND, Fla. – In their third game in three days, the Fire notched their second conference victory over the Seahawks of Northwood University, 77-63.

A back and forth first half saw only single digit differentials. The Fire's largest lead was by seven at the 6:03 mark while the Seahawks bested by four later in the half. A 13-4 run favoring the Seahawks put the Fire down by two at half, 31-29.

The Seahawks were never able to stretch their lead over four in the second half and the Fire gained the momentum for good with 6:08 on the clock. A 22-8 run put the Fire up by 14 before the final buzzer; their largest lead of the game.

Cassidy Block and Alyssa Ramos led the Fire, both recording 15 points for the team high while Block also led in rebounds with nine.

"We focused on time management, controlling the spurts of the game, and making an effort on rebounding," said Coach Jody Martinez. "Northwood was a very good attacking team, but our zone defense wore them out mentally. I'm very proud of the girls tonight."

The Fire move to 10-4 on the season, 2-1 in conference play, and take the court again on Saturday at Johnson & Wales University. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
