Box Score Lakeland, Fla. - The Southeastern University men's tennis team collected the first win in program history today with a 7-2 win over visiting Alma College (Mich.). The Fire were led by No. 1 singles Sergei Krasilnikov, who won in straight sets 6-1, 6-1.
Later, he and his partner, Jordan Harris, won at No. 1 doubles 8-2. The Fire won five of six singles and two doubles matches for their seven points. The win improves the men's tennis record to 1-5.
The women's tennis team won their second straight match, also defeating Alma College by a 7-2 score. The Fire fell behind 1-2 in the doubles matches, but rallied in singles to win all six matches in straight sets. Sadia Mayou, No. 1 singles, won by the biggest margin, 6-1, 6-0. Mason Bellar (Freshman/Lakeland Christian HS), playing No. 6 singles, won her fourth consecutive singles match. Bellar is 4-2 overall in singles. The women's team improves to 2-4 on the season.
Both teams are back in action on March 2 when they host Ave Maria University starting at 12:30 p.m. at the Edgewood Tennis Courts in Lakeland.
