Box Score LAKELAND--The Southeastern Lady Fire tennis team lost their third straight match on Wednesday afternoon, falling to No. 23 Webber International, 8-1, at Woodlake Park. It was SEU's third straight match versus a NAIA Top 25 opponent, as The Sun Conference currently has four teams represented in the NAIA's Top 25.
SEU competed in many close sets throughout the line up, but it was the freshmen duo of Kristina Wisor and Stephanie Dodd that broke through to collect the lone win of the day. Playing in the No. 2 doubles position, Wisor and Dodd combined to defeat Zulema Robles and Letecra Tomb, 8-4.Â
In No. 1 doubles, Webber's Laura Nowak and Julija Stojkorska teamed up to defeat SEU's Chelsey Lynn and Wendy Reade, 8-3. Nowak and Lynn also battled in No. 1 singles, as Nowak eventually won a close match 6-3, 6-2. Stojkorska and Reade also dualed in singles play, with Stojkorska winning 6-2, 6-3 in No. 3 singles.
One of the best singles matches of the day came in the No. 2 position. Webber's Nathalia Chaddad defeated Kristina Wisor in a tighly contested match 6-2, 6-4. Stephanie Dodd lost a tough match to Letecra Tomb, 6-4, 6-1 in No. 4 singles play.
SEU's Heather Ericksen lost her match to Holly Parnell 6-2, 6-2 while Lexus Potts fell in straight sets to Jeanette Hicks, 6-0, 6-0.
Webber International improves to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in Sun Conference matches.
Southeastern is now 2-4 overall and 2-3 in conference play. SEU will host Alma College, Friday afternoon, at 2:00 p.m. in Lakeland.
