Box Score BABSON PARK, Fla.--It has been a tough start to the 2011 season for the Southeastern Lady Fire tennis team. SEU fell to 0-4 on the year after losing to Webber International, 9-0, this past Tuesday afternoon.
Three of the four losses Southeastern has suffered this season has come to teams currently ranked in the NAIA's Top 25. Webber International, the lone school who is not ranked, is receiving votes and could potentially be ranked in the next Top 25 poll as they are now a perfect 2-0 on the year.
In doubles action, Wendy Reade and Autumn Housefield lost a close match to Leticia Tomb and Jeanette Hicks, 8-6.
Webber's Nathalia Chaddad and Anna Culaba held off SEU's Amanda Summers and Chelsey Lynn, 8-4. Noelle Cottom and Alexandra Fraser lost their match, 8-2, to Webber's Laura Nowak and Helen Perry.
In singles play, Housefield battled Hicks in the best match of the day, as Hicks eventually came out on top 7-5, 7-5.
Lynn made a nice comeback in game two of her match, but still came up short, losing 6-0, 7-5Â to Nowak.
Playing in the No. 2 position, SEU's Alexandra Fraser lost to Chaddad 6-2, 6-2 while Summers was defeated by Helen Perry 6-3, 6-0, at the No. 3 spot.
Tomb went onto defeat Cottom 6-0, 6-4 and Reade was upended by Anna Culaba 6-4, 6-0.
All of SEU's losses this year have been at the hands of conference opponents.
Southeastern will next host NCAA D-II Palm Beach Atlantic University, Friday afternoon, at 4:30 p.m.
