MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — No. 10 Southeastern put together a complete day on Friday, sweeping a doubleheader at Florida Memorial with a 10–3 victory in Game 1 followed by a dominant 13–1 win in Game 2.
The Fire used timely hitting, aggressive baserunning, and strong pitching across both games to improve to 22–7 on the season.
Game 1: Southeastern 10, Florida Memorial 3
In the opener, Southeastern overcame an early deficit and broke a 3–3 tie with a five-run fifth inning to pull away for a 10–3 win.
David Flores sparked the offense with a two-run home run in the second to erase a 2–0 deficit, while
Braden Bartholomae added a go-ahead solo shot in the fourth.
The decisive fifth inning featured a mix of clutch hits and opportunistic baserunning.
Victor Esquivel Perez delivered an RBI single, and Flores stole home as part of a five-run surge that gave the Fire an 8–3 advantage. Southeastern added two more runs in the sixth to close out the scoring.
Bartholomae led the way in Game 1 with three hits and two runs scored, while Flores drove in two and reached base four times. On the mound,
Finn Still earned the win with four scoreless innings of relief, stabilizing the game after the early innings.
Game 2: Southeastern 13, Florida Memorial 1 (8 innings)
Southeastern carried that momentum into Game 2 and controlled the contest from the start. The Fire scored in six different innings, including a three-run sixth and a five-run eighth, on the way to a 13–1 rout.
Armani Cozza paced the offense in the nightcap, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs, while
Cort Pryor added two hits and scored twice.
Victor Esquivel Perez and
Nathanial Hopkins each contributed RBIs as the Fire again totaled 11 hits.
The Fire took advantage of Florida Memorial miscues throughout the game, scoring multiple unearned runs and applying constant pressure on the bases.
On the mound,
Byler Reither was dominant, tossing six scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out four.
Blake Albritton closed out the final two innings as Southeastern limited Florida Memorial to just one run in the game.
Across the doubleheader, Southeastern outscored Florida Memorial 23–4, combining for 22 hits and capitalizing on eight Lion errors.
The Fire will look to complete the series sweep in the finale tomorrow at noon.
