LAKELAND, Fla. — SEU Men's Basketball saw its two-game winning streak come to an end Saturday night as No. 11 Keiser used efficient shooting and a strong inside presence to claim an 81–54 Sun Conference victory at the Furnace.
The contest featured two 20-win teams, but Keiser controlled the tempo from the start and never trailed. The Seahawks found early success from the perimeter, knocking down six three-pointers in the first half to build separation. Jackson Slater and Nadir Myers combined to fuel the early run, while Southeastern worked to keep pace behind the hot hand of
Mylo Santos.
Santos carried the Fire offense in the opening half, scoring 18 points and connecting on four three-pointers. Still, Keiser shot 50 percent from the field and 60 percent from beyond the arc before halftime to take a 40–29 lead into the break.
Keiser continued to press the advantage in the second half, scoring consistently in the paint and capitalizing on turnovers. A stretch of interior finishes from Camerin James, Cameron Baldwin, and Mathew Shea helped the Seahawks push the margin beyond 20 points midway through the period.
Southeastern struggled to find offensive rhythm after halftime, shooting 33 percent in the second half and 30 percent for the game. The Fire were also limited to seven bench points and were outscored 46–22 in the paint, making it difficult to chip away at the deficit.
Santos led all scorers with 24 points while adding six rebounds, finishing 9-of-20 from the floor and 4-of-8 from three-point range.
Daivion Traylor added nine points and five rebounds, and
Jayson Nixon chipped in eight points and four boards.
SEU will look to bounce back on Wednesday, traveling to Sarasota to face New College of Florida at 7 p.m.
