SEU Earns 107–65 Win Over New College

Fire pull away in second half for 42-point win

SARASOTA, Fla. -- Southeastern Men's Basketball delivered one of its most complete performances of the season Wednesday night, rolling past New College of Florida 107–65 in Sun Conference action. The Fire improved to 21-5 overall and 10-3 in league play with the wire-to-wire victory, controlling the game on both ends from the opening tip.

SEU set the tone early with its interior presence and efficiency. The Fire shot 51 percent in the first half and built a 45–30 lead at the break, consistently attacking the paint and converting second-chance opportunities. That advantage only grew after halftime as SEU erupted for 62 second-half points on 63 percent shooting, eventually stretching the margin to as many as 43.

Mylo Santos led a balanced Southeastern attack with 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting. The guard was aggressive from the start, scoring 14 in the first half while also contributing three assists. Anthony Kangah added 19 points, mixing drives and perimeter looks while also grabbing four rebounds and recording two steals.

Daivion Traylor provided a major spark in limited minutes, finishing with 18 points and a game-high nine rebounds. He was especially effective around the rim, going 7-of-8 from the field and helping Southeastern dominate the paint. Nathan Mikkelson added 12 points and eight boards, anchoring the Fire inside on both ends.

Depth proved to be a major difference-maker. Southeastern's bench poured in 33 points, highlighted by Daniel Sohn's 10 points in just four minutes, and Dylan Labuhn's nine points on 3-for-5 from beyond the arc. In total, 11 different Fire players scored as SEU showcased its versatility and unselfishness.

The numbers underscored Southeastern's control. The Fire outrebounded New College 41–20, scored 64 points in the paint, and turned offensive rebounds into 23 second-chance points. SEU also tallied 19 assists on 42 made field goals. Defensively, SEU limited New College to 37.5 percent shooting and just 24 percent from three-point range. The Fire forced 11 turnovers and rarely allowed the hosts to find sustained rhythm. New College never held a lead and could not get closer than double digits after the midway point of the first half.

After New College scored to begin the second half, Southeastern responded with a decisive run fueled by transition finishes and inside scoring from Traylor and Mikkelson. From there, the Fire steadily pulled away, allowing the coaching staff to rotate heavily down the stretch.

Next up, SEU closes out its regular-season road slate on Saturday, traveling to Lake Wales for a 4 p.m. matchup at Warner.
