LAKE WALES, Fla. -- Southeastern Women's Basketball closed out its regular-season road schedule with an 83–51 win at Warner on Saturday afternoon, turning a slow start into a one-sided conference victory. After trailing at the end of the first quarter, the Fire took control in the middle periods and never looked back, showcasing the depth and balance that have defined their season.
Warner opened with strong energy and built a 19–14 lead after one quarter, finding success inside and forcing a few early Southeastern turnovers. The Fire quickly settled in, however, and the tone of the game shifted dramatically in the second quarter. Southeastern locked in defensively and limited the Royals to just one made field goal in the period while stringing together efficient offensive possessions. A 25–4 second-quarter surge flipped the deficit into a 39–23 halftime advantage and put the Fire firmly in control.
Grace Field played a central role in the turnaround. The forward scored efficiently around the basket and finished with 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting while also contributing on the boards. Her steady presence helped Southeastern establish rhythm on both ends during the decisive run.
The Fire put the game out of reach in the third quarter with their most explosive stretch of the afternoon. Southeastern shot nearly 77 percent and poured in 31 points in the period, pushing the lead beyond 30. Ball movement and unselfish play created open looks across the lineup, and multiple players capitalized.
Grace Pitzer provided a spark off the bench with 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting, while
Mya Herman added 13 points and five rebounds.
Sarah Davis chipped in eight points, including two three-pointers that helped extend the margin.
Depth again proved to be a strength. Southeastern's bench accounted for 37 points, allowing the Fire to maintain pressure regardless of substitutions. The Fire shot 53 percent from the field overall, connected on six three-pointers, and forced 27 Warner turnovers that led to a significant scoring advantage. Southeastern also controlled the paint, consistently finishing at the rim and limiting second chances on the other end.
Southeastern now turns its attention to the regular-season finale on Saturday, February 21 at 2 p.m. at home against Ave Maria at The Furnace. The matchup will serve as Senior Day, as the Fire honor their senior class prior to tipoff.
