SEU Caps Regular Season with 11th Straight Win

Herman scores 19 as Fire extend longest win streak since 2021-22 season

LAKELAND, Fla. – Southeastern closed out the regular season Saturday afternoon with an 84-65 victory over Ave Maria inside The Furnace, extending its winning streak to 11 games and carrying momentum into the postseason.

The Fire finished the regular season at 25-3 overall and 15-1 in Sun Conference play. The 11-game winning streak is the program's longest since the 2021-22 campaign and comes at a critical time as Southeastern prepares for tournament play.

On Senior Night, the Fire wasted little time asserting control. Southeastern shot 61 percent in the opening quarter and built a 27-14 lead after one. The Fire followed with a 23-11 second period, using defensive pressure and efficient offense to take a commanding 50-25 advantage into halftime.

SEU shot 51.6 percent from the floor for the game and connected on 13 three-pointers, spacing the floor effectively and capitalizing on open looks. The Fire also forced 26 turnovers and turned them into 29 points, repeatedly converting defense into transition opportunities.

Mya Herman led the way with 19 points, knocking down three shots from beyond the arc and setting the tone offensively. Grace Field added 16 points and eight rebounds while distributing eight assists to orchestrate the offense. Alley Haas provided a spark from long range, finishing with 15 points on five three-pointers.

Depth again proved to be a strength. Southeastern received 26 points from the bench, maintaining its level of play throughout the rotation. Sarah Davis chipped in 12 points, and the Fire controlled the tempo with balanced scoring and disciplined defensive execution.

Ave Maria made a push in the third quarter, outscoring Southeastern 22-17 in the period, but the Fire answered in the fourth. A trio of three-pointers helped stretch the margin to as many as 31 points midway through the final frame, effectively putting the game out of reach.

With the regular season complete, attention now turns fully to the Sun Conference Tournament.
