BABSON PARK, Fla. -- SEU Women's Basketball opened 2026 in emphatic fashion on Saturday afternoon, rolling past Webber International, 89–43. The win pushed the Fire to 14–2 overall and 4–0 in conference play while showcasing the depth and balance that has become a hallmark of this year's group .
From the opening tip, Southeastern set the tone on both ends of the floor. The Fire jumped out to a 21–7 lead after one quarter, shooting nearly 70 percent from the field while holding Webber under 20 percent. That defensive pressure never relented, as SEU forced turnovers, controlled the glass, and turned stops into quick scoring opportunities in transition.
Offensively, the Fire were efficient and unselfish, finishing the afternoon at 60.7 percent from the floor and an impressive 56.0 percent from beyond the arc. Five different players reached double figures, underscoring a complete team performance.
Mya Herman and
Grace Field each scored 13 points, while
Alley Haas added 12 on a 4-for-7 effort from three-point range.
Kristiana Kulackovska chipped in 10 points on near-perfect shooting, and
Sarah Davis came off the bench to provide 12 points and key energy minutes.
The bench production was especially notable, with Southeastern outscoring Webber 37–13 in reserve points.
Rosa Redondo Sorribes contributed nine points and four rebounds, while
Ellah Kissell added six points and solid perimeter defense. Late in the game,
Kylie Waldinger made her presence felt, scoring six points on a perfect 2-for-2 shooting performance from deep, during a closing surge that pushed the Fire's lead to its largest margin of the day.
Southeastern's dominance was reflected across the stat sheet. The Fire won the rebounding battle 39–20, tallied 23 assists on 34 made field goals, and forced 18 points off turnovers. Defensively, Webber was limited to just 29.8 percent shooting overall and 16.7 percent from three-point range, as Southeastern consistently contested shots and closed out on the perimeter.
The Fire continued to build separation in each quarter, extending the lead to 46–20 by halftime and never allowing Webber to find sustained rhythm. By the fourth quarter, Southeastern's depth took over, with contributions coming from across the rotation as the Fire closed the game on a commanding note.
Southeastern will look to carry that momentum on the road next week, as the Fire travel south to face Keiser on Wednesday in another key Sun Conference matchup.
