Fire Keep Rolling with Sun Conference Road Win

SEU closes out Keiser in three tight sets to improve to 12-2 on the season

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- SEU Volleyball continued its strong run of form on Saturday afternoon, earning its third straight sweep with a 3–0 victory at Keiser. The Fire improved to 12-2 overall and 3-1 in Sun Conference play after closing out the Seahawks in sets of 25-19, 27-25, and 26-24.

The Fire came out steady in the first set, relying on balanced offense to build a lead midway through the frame. Timely kills from Laura Bonomi and Emily Maske opened up breathing room, and SEU kept Keiser at arm's length to secure the opener 25-19.

The second set turned into a back-and-forth battle with eight ties and three lead changes. Keiser held set point at 24-23, but the Fire showed composure behind the attacking trio of Bonomi, Maske, and Yarelis Lopez. Southeastern rallied late, taking four of the last five points to pull out a 27-25 win and go up 2–0.

The third set followed a similar script, with momentum swinging multiple times. The Seahawks pushed the Fire deep into the frame, but SEU's defense came up with stops when needed. Libero Marysa Connors turned in critical digs, and Emma Reed's presence at the net helped slow Keiser's late push. Southeastern sealed the sweep with a 26-24 decision.

Bonomi finished with a team-high 17 kills to go along with 23 digs and two aces for a standout all-around performance. Maske and Lopez added 14 kills apiece, with Lopez also tallying 16 digs and two aces. Downs and Speer combined for 48 assists, setting the tone offensively, while Connors contributed 18 digs to anchor the back row. At the net, Lucrezia Ceroni posted two blocks, with Maske and Reed adding one each.

The Fire now look to carry their winning streak into midweek play, traveling to Babson Park on Wednesday, September 24, for a 7 p.m. matchup with Webber International.
