Fire Surge to Seventh Straight Win in 98–72 Rout of Beacon

SEU improves to 9–1 for the first time since 2018–19

LAKELAND, Fla. -- SEU men's basketball extended its dominant early-season run Thursday night, rolling past Beacon College 98–72 at The Furnace to secure its seventh straight victory, the program's longest winning streak since the end of the 2022–23 campaign with eight consecutive wins. The Fire also improved to 9–1 for the first time since the 2018–19 season, continuing one of the strongest starts in program history.

SEU took control immediately, opening the game on a 20–4 surge behind efficient scoring in transition and the half court. The Fire shot a remarkable 77 percent from the field in the first half, piling up 61 points before the break and establishing a 23-point cushion that Beacon never threatened. Southeastern finished at 62.3 percent shooting for the night and outscored the Blazers 60–30 in the paint.

Daivion Traylor delivered a perfect shooting performance, going 8-for-8 from the floor and 5-for-5 at the line to total 21 points along with nine rebounds. Mylo Santos continued his steady production with 18 points, six assists, and three steals while shooting 8-for-11. Nathan Mikkelson powered the interior, recording a double-double of 15 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, contributing to Southeastern's 44–21 advantage on the glass. Jayson Nixon knocked down three threes and finished with nine points and five rebounds, while LaDavian King (11 points) and Jarin Edwards (10 points) helped the Fire's bench contribute 32 points.

The Fire's defensive pressure created issues throughout the night, forcing 11 turnovers that led to 15 points, while holding Beacon to 46 percent shooting. SEU added 20 second-chance points and continued to dictate the tempo on both ends of the court.

Beacon was led by Ernesto Hichez with 21 points and Tony Wade with 19, but the Fire maintained a double-digit lead for more than 38 minutes and stretched the margin to as many as 27 in the second half.

The Fire travel to Temple Terrace on Thursday, December 11, for a 7 p.m. matchup at Florida College as they look to push their winning streak to eight and continue one of their best starts of the last decade.
