MOUNT VERNON, Ga. -- The SEU Women's Basketball team continued its strong start to the 2025–26 campaign with a dominant 88-60 victory over Brewton-Parker College on Tuesday evening in Mount Vernon, Georgia. The Fire never trailed in the contest, leading wire-to-wire and showing balance throughout a deep rotation where every player that saw the floor scored.
Southeastern established control early behind the hot shooting of
Alley Haas, who hit a pair of threes in the opening quarter, and steady play from guard
Mafalda Chambel to take a 16-10 lead after ten minutes. The Fire extended that margin in the second period with efficient ball movement and timely defense, using a 9-0 run sparked by
Mya Herman and
Kristiana Kulackovska to go into halftime ahead 38-24.
The Fire blew the game open in the third quarter, shooting a blistering 75 percent from the field and outscoring the Barons 30-14. Freshman
Ellah Kissell came off the bench to score eight points in the frame, while
Grace Field and Herman added six each as SEU stretched its advantage to 30 by the end of the quarter. Southeastern maintained its edge the rest of the way, building the lead to as many as 36 in the fourth.
Rosa Redondo Sorribes led the Fire with 13 points off the bench, scoring nine in the fourth quarter alone. Herman also totaled 13 points, with Haas and Chambel contributing 11 apiece, and Kulackovska finishing with 10. Field pulled down a team-high seven rebounds as SEU controlled the interior for a 32-18 advantage in points in the paint.
Southeastern shot 58 percent from the field and 56 percent from three-point range while turning 24 Brewton-Parker turnovers into 34 points. The Fire's bench contributed 37 points in the balanced effort.
Now 2-0, SEU will stay on the road for two games at the Cumberlands Classic in Kentucky, taking on Goshen College (Ind.) on Thursday at 6 p.m. before facing Defiance College on Friday at 1 p.m.
