SEU Stays Hot, Improves to 3–0 in the Sun

Five players score in double figures as SEU extends early-season momentum

LAKELAND, Fla. -- SEU continued its strong start to Sun Conference play with a 98–90 win over St. Thomas on Friday night inside The Furnace, improving to 6–1 overall and to 3–0 in league action for the first time since the 2021–22 season. The victory also marked the Fire's second straight game shooting 50 percent or better, finishing at an efficient 57.6 percent from the floor.

For the second game in a row—and the third time in the last four outings—Mylo Santos delivered another 20-point performance, scoring 21 while going 11-for-13 at the free throw line. He added five rebounds, three assists, and two steals, providing steadying moments throughout a fast-paced matchup that saw both teams crack 50 points in the second half.

Southeastern's balance again stood out, with five players reaching double figures and the starting unit combining for 78 points. Anthony Kangah poured in 19 on 8-of-10 shooting, Nathan Mikkelson tallied 18 points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds, and Jayson Nixon dropped 16 while knocking down four threes and finishing a perfect 6-for-6 at the foul line. Off the bench, Jarin Edwards supplied 12 points and four assists, helping the Fire maintain scoring rhythm during key stretches.

SEU shot nearly 60 percent in the opening half to take a 47–43 lead, then used another burst of efficient offense to build its largest advantage at 82–69 with seven minutes remaining. A Mikkelson triple capped the run, giving the Fire enough separation to withstand a late push from the Bobcats, who were led by Kaleb Myers' 24 points. Southeastern finished with 19 assists against just five turnovers, one of its most disciplined offensive showings of the season.

Next up, the Fire hit the road for a post-holiday non-conference test. SEU travels to Mobile, Alabama, to face the University of Mobile on Tuesday, November 25 at 3 p.m. as they look to extend their early-season momentum before reentering Sun Conference play.
