Fire Stay Hot as Field Reaches 1,000-Point Club

Herman and Field combine for 44 points while SEU overwhelms Florida Memorial

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- The SEU Women's Basketball team remained unbeaten with a 91–52 victory over Florida Memorial on Saturday afternoon, improving to 6–0 overall and 1–0 in Sun Conference play. The Fire controlled the game wire-to-wire with elite shooting efficiency, committed defense, and a milestone moment that set the tone immediately.

Southeastern opened the afternoon with a sharp and focused 8–0 run, highlighted by Grace Field scoring her 1,000th career point on a strong finish inside. The historic basket energized the Fire early as they seized momentum and never allowed the Lions to settle into rhythm.

Field powered her way to 21 points on 9-of-11 shooting, seven rebounds, one assist, one block, and one steal. Her interior presence on both ends dictated the pace of play and helped establish Southeastern's control in the paint.

Mya Herman delivered a near-perfect offensive performance to complement Field's milestone afternoon. Herman poured in 23 points on 9-of-10 shooting, including 4-of-5 from three, while adding eight rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Whether spacing the floor, attacking in transition, or facilitating in the half-court, Herman consistently created problems for FMU.

As a team, the Fire shot 67.9% from the field and 58.3% from three while scoring at least 20 points in all four quarters. Eleven players scored, underscoring SEU's depth and balance. Eva Bishop (10 points), Grace Pitzer (eight), and Sarah Davis (eight) helped the bench contribute 32 points, while Alley Haas knocked down two threes and added two steals. Mafalda Chambel guided the offense with five assists.

Defensively, the Fire were equally dominant. They forced 18 turnovers, held the Lions to 1-of-11 from beyond the arc, and limited FMU to 38.5% shooting overall. SEU's rotations and pressure generated 25 points off turnovers, and the Fire controlled the boards 30–23. Their transition success—17 fast-break points—stretched the margin throughout the afternoon, with the lead peaking at 42 late in the fourth quarter.

The Fire now shifts focus to their next matchup, a Wednesday, November 19 contest at 5:30 p.m. against Coastal Georgia inside The Furnace, where SEU looks to extend its undefeated start and maintain its early-season dominance.
