LAKELAND, Fla. -- The SEU Women's Basketball team continued its perfect start to the season with a commanding 107–81 victory over Coastal Georgia on Wednesday night in the Sun Conference home opener at The Furnace. The Fire moved to 7–0 overall and 2–0 in league play, extending one of the most efficient offensive stretches the program has produced in years.
Grace Field delivered a career night, erupting for 32 points—her most in an SEU uniform, and in her career—while shooting a near-flawless 13-for-14 from the field. She added 11 rebounds, five blocks, and four assists, anchoring the Fire on both ends. Her 32 points are the most by an SEU player this season and tie for the highest single-game output by any Fire player across the last three years. Field's dominance powered an SEU offense that shot 62.5%, marking the second straight game the Fire have surpassed 60 percent shooting—a first since available records began in 2014–15.
Southeastern's 107 points marked its highest scoring performance since a 111-point outing against Ave Maria on February 25, 2022, and represented just the Fire's second game in triple digits in the last four seasons. Their ball movement was equally impressive: SEU finished with 30 assists, the program's highest total since recording 30 against St. Thomas on February 24, 2023.
The Fire set the tone immediately, storming to a 23–5 lead after the first quarter and holding the Mariners to just one made field goal in the opening frame. SEU forced Coastal Georgia into 1-for-16 shooting (6.2%), using active hands and rim protection to suffocate the offense early. Field,
Alley Haas, and
Mya Herman combined for the team's first 13 points, sparking the rapid separation.
Haas also notched her career high, fueling the perimeter attack with 20 points on 6-of-9 three-point shooting, while Herman added 14 points and operated as a key connector in transition and half-court sets.
Kristiana Kulackovska contributed 13 points, eight assists, and six rebounds, orchestrating the offense from the high post and continuing her strong start to the season. Off the bench,
Sarah Davis delivered a breakout performance with 14 points on 4-for-5 shooting from beyond the arc.
SEU also imposed its will defensively, finishing with 10 blocked shots, their highest single-game total since February 2, 2023. The rim protection was a team-wide effort, as five different players recorded at least one block, led by Field's five. Herman ahd two while, Kulackovska, Davis, and
Rosa Redondo Sorribes each added one, contributing to a defensive showing that held the Mariners to 36% shooting overall.
With the win, Southeastern improved to 7–0 for the first time since the 2018–19 season, a year the Fire opened 11–0 before going on to finish as the NAIA National Runner-Up.
SEU returns to action on Friday, hosting St. Thomas in another Sun Conference matchup. Tipoff at The Furnace is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., as the Fire look to remain unbeaten and continue their early-season momentum.
