LAKELAND, Fla. -- SEU Women's Soccer put together a complete performance on Senior Night, rolling past Warner 4–0 Saturday evening at the SEU Soccer Field. The win locked up a first-round bye and a home semifinal in the upcoming Sun Conference Tournament while keeping the Fire in prime position to secure the program's first-ever regular-season conference championship.
From the opening whistle, SEU dictated the tempo, controlling possession and pinning the Royals deep in their own half. The Fire's early pressure created multiple chances through the wings, and in the 13th minute they broke through on a perfectly executed set piece. Off a well-driven corner from Rebecca LaFace,
Gaia Iacuzzi met the ball at the near post and placed a header past the keeper for her first goal of the season, giving Southeastern the early edge.
The Fire continued to pepper the Warner defense with waves of attacks, testing the goalkeeper repeatedly as
Ariadna Lozano and
Sara Irurozki each came close on first-half attempts. SEU doubled its advantage just before the break when
Olivia Hadad slipped through the back line and finished a composed one-on-one chance inside the penalty area to make it 2–0 at halftime.
After the break, the Fire continued to dictate play, building through possession and stretching Warner's defense with quick passing. In the 57th minute, Irurozki nearly found the net with a powerful header that rattled the crossbar, but
Madelyn Davidson was perfectly positioned to clean up the rebound, slotting the ball home for her fifth goal of the season.
Southeastern's final tally came in the 76th minute when Hadad again showcased her finishing ability, taking her first touch around a defender inside the box before burying a low shot from close range for her second goal of the night and team-leading ninth of the season.
The Fire's defense and midfield continued to control the match, limiting Warner to just four total shots and only two on goal. Goalkeeper
Ella Sebree was sharp when called upon, stopping both attempts to secure her first solo shutout of the season—adding to a shared clean sheet earlier this year—and giving Southeastern its second consecutive shutout as a team.
With the win, Southeastern improved to 11-2-2 overall and 6-1 in Sun Conference play. The Fire will now turn their attention to Wednesday's regular-season finale at St. Thomas in Miami Gardens, where a win would clinch the program's first-ever Sun Conference regular-season title.
