Top of The Sun: Women's Soccer Clinches Regular Season Crown

No. 15 SEU locks up top seed with third straight shutout and 0–0 draw at St. Thomas

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- The 15th-ranked Southeastern University women's soccer team clinched its first Sun Conference regular season championship since 2020 with a 0–0 draw at St. Thomas Wednesday night. The Fire capped the regular season with an 11-2-3 overall record and a 6-1-1 mark in league play to secure the top seed entering the postseason.

The Fire and Bobcats traded momentum throughout the first half, with both sides creating chances off set pieces. Southeastern earned two early corners but couldn't break through, while Ella Sebree came up with key stops to deny St. Thomas attackers inside the box. The Fire settled into their rhythm as the half progressed, keeping possession through the midfield and finding width through Ariadna Lozano and Madelyn Davidson to test the Bobcat defense.

St. Thomas applied pressure coming out of halftime, forcing Sebree into several sharp saves as the hosts tallied 12 second-half shots. Southeastern countered with five corner kicks after the break, including a chance in the 65th minute. Despite heavy pressure in the closing minutes, Sebree and the back line held firm to preserve the clean sheet.

The result marked Southeastern's third straight shutout, as the Fire have now gone 288 minutes and 51 seconds without conceding a goal. Sebree posted her second solo shutout of the year, stopping all eight shots on goal and extending her streak to 11 consecutive saves.

With the draw, the Fire claimed the Sun Conference regular season crown and home-field advantage throughout the tournament. Southeastern will open postseason play in the semifinals on Saturday, November 8 at 6 p.m. at the SEU Soccer Field, facing the lowest remaining seed from the quarterfinal round as they begin their pursuit of a conference tournament title and a return to the NAIA National Championship stage.
