Five-Goal Output Fuels SEU’s Fourth Straight Victory

Lozano tallies goal and two assists as No. 21 Fire blank New College to improve to 5-1 in Sun Conference play

LAKELAND, Fla. -- The No. 21 SEU Women's Soccer team kept its momentum rolling with a dominant 5–0 win over New College of Florida on Saturday night at the SEU Soccer Field. The win marked the Fire's 10th of the season, improving them to 10-2-2 overall and 5-1 in Sun Conference play, while securing their sixth clean sheet of the year.

The Fire wasted no time setting the tone as Madelyn Davidson opened the scoring in the fourth minute, slotting home her fourth goal of the year off an assist from Ariadna Lozano. Southeastern kept up the early pressure, racking up 12 first-half shots and converting two more before the break. Lozano doubled the lead in the 34th minute with her seventh goal of the campaign, assisted by Olivia Thomassy and Sara Irurozki, before Olivia Hadad buried a quick follow-up just 46 seconds later on a feed from Davidson to make it 3–0 at halftime.

In the second half, the Fire stayed in complete control, generating 15 more shots and four corner kicks. Irurozki converted from the penalty spot in the 50th minute for her team-leading ninth goal of the season, and Rebecca Laface capped the scoring at the 65-minute mark, finishing off another Lozano assist for her fourth of the year. Lozano was involved in three of the five goals, tallying a goal and two assists to lead the attack.

Defensively, Southeastern allowed just two shots all match, with goalkeepers Madison Songer and Jordyn Velasco combining for a two-save shutout. The Fire also dominated the corner kick margin (8–2) and held a 27–2 advantage in total shots, including 15 on target.

The Fire will look to make it five straight wins when they return home on Saturday, October 25, hosting Warner University at 7 p.m. at the SEU Soccer Field in Lakeland, Fla.
