Ranked Fire Roll in Sun Opener

Lozano and Hadad combine for four goals as No. 24 SEU controls possession in Sun Conference opener

LAKELAND, Fla. -- SEU Women's Soccer made a statement in its Sun Conference opener Wednesday night, rolling past Ave Maria 4-0 at the SEU Soccer Field. The victory came on the same afternoon the Fire entered the NAIA Women's Soccer Top 25 for the first time this season, debuting at No. 24.

From the outset, Southeastern showed why it earned national recognition, overwhelming the Gyrenes with pace and creativity in the attacking third. After a handful of early chances, Ariadna Lozano opened the scoring in the 18th minute, finishing off a service from defender Alva Jonsson. Just five minutes later, Olivia Hadad doubled the lead when she slotted home a pass from Madelyn Davidson. Lozano nearly struck again in the 37th minute when she rattled the crossbar, but made good on her next opportunity in the 42nd, converting on an assist from Carmen Garcia Llanes to give the Fire a commanding 3-0 advantage at halftime.

The pressure carried over after the break. In the 50th minute, Lozano turned provider, springing Hadad for her second goal of the match to close out the scoring at 4-0. Southeastern continued to dictate possession and tempo, generating opportunities while rotating players freely. Goalkeeper Sofia Diaz was untested, as the Fire defense held Ave Maria without a shot on goal and conceded just three attempts overall.

Hadad and Lozano each tallied a brace to lead the offense, while Jonsson, Davidson, and Garcia Llanes provided the assists. SEU also earned five corner kicks to none for Ave Maria, highlighting the Fire's sustained territorial control.

Now 6-1-2 overall and 1-0 in Sun Conference play, the No. 24 Fire turn their attention to the road, traveling to Miami Gardens to face Florida Memorial on Saturday, October 4, at 7 p.m.
