Southeastern Claims 2023-24 Sun Conference Commissioner’s Cup

LAKELAND, Fla.—For the fourth time in the last five seasons, Southeastern claimed The Sun Conference Commissioner's Cup.

"In a conference that is getting better by the day, it is truly exciting to have found a way to win the Commissioner's Cup this year," said Southeastern University Director of Athletics Drew Watson. "Special thanks to Dr. Kent Ingle, president of SEU, for his support and vision for our university. It is an honor to watch our coaches, athletic trainers, athletic communicators, strength & conditioning staff, and administrators work on behalf of our amazing student-athletes. I am grateful for each one of them and their contribution to achievements like this."

The cup is awarded annually to the school that accumulates the most points according to their finish in each sport. Points from the top five men's sports and top five women's sports are totaled to determine each school's score.

"We are excited to award the 2023-24 Commissioner's Cup Trophy to the Southeastern Fire," said Sun Conference Commissioner Dustin Wilke. "This achievement highlights an exceptional team effort, led by Athletic Director Drew Watson, alongside his committed staff, coaches, and student-athletes. It was another extremely competitive season in The Sun and we proudly celebrate the Fire for their successes this year."

Conference championships on the men's side in cross country, indoor track and field, men's golf, baseball and outdoor track and field along with titles in women's basketball, indoor and outdoor track and field helped the Fire accumulate 200 points and edged out Keiser by 23.4 points. Southeastern also had second-place finishes in volleyball and soccer on the women's side to aid its point total.

Southeastern won the cup for the first time in 2019 and again in 2021 and repeated in 2022.
