Baseball Back To Conference Play

LAKELAND, Fla.- After a break in Sun Conference games, the 29-4 (8-0 SUN) Southeastern Fire look to return to their conference schedule, starting back up with a four game road series versus the Florida Memorial University Lions.

Coming off their first regular season series loss since April 2022, the Fire are looking to get back to their winning ways and remain undefeated in conference play. Josh Pigozzo looks to keep his momentum up at the plate from the previous weekend, hitting .500 (6-for-12) with four RBIs in the series against Reinhardt. Landrey Wilkerson is also hoping to stay hot, hitting .461 (6-for-13) with seven RBIs and two home runs on the weekend.

The pitching staff looks to stay dominant, holding the second-best ERA in the NAIA with a 2.86, and an NAIA best 13.24 K/9. Fire pitching has held their opponents to a .183 batting average through 33 games.

Looking at Florida Memorial, the Lions have one more conference series played than the Fire, going 4-8 (15-13 overall) in conference games so far this year, with a 3-1 series win over the #20 ranked Keiser Seahawks. The Lions hold a team .293 average at the plate, carried by Senior outfielder Raymond Rivera, who hits a team best .402, with 20 RBIs. Ulises Rodriguez holds a team best 26 RBIs, hitting just under Rivera at .346.

Florida Memorial's pitching staff has allowed an earned run average of 6.94, striking out 162 to their 129 walks, allowing their opponents a .314 batting average against. 

Southeastern has held most of the advantage all-time versus the Lions, posting a 47-10 record, with Florida Memorial's last win against the Fire dating back to 2018. Southeastern has won 18 straight versus the Lions since.

First pitch of the four game series is scheduled to begin Thursday at 2 p.m.
