WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.-- Southeastern bounced back from a 4-2 loss to Keiser with a 4-0 win thanks to a gem from
Darien Smith and a two-homer day from
Josh Pigozzo.
The first game was scoreless through six as
Robb Adams struck out nine including his 300th career strikeout. A solo homer by
Josh Pigozzo in the top of the seventh got the Fire on the board first but a bases-loaded walk followed by a wild pitch gave Keiser the lead. The hosts added a two-run single to push the lead to three.
An RBI fielder's choice by
Gary Lora cut the lead to two with two outs in the eighth, but the Fire managed just a two-out double by
Alfonso Villalobos in the ninth.Â
Pigozzo was a perfect 3-for-3 in the second game and homered in the second to get the Fire started once again.
Luis Gonzalez doubled home Pigozzo in the fourth and
Tommy Davis doubled home
Landrey Wilkerson in the seventh. Davis scored on a
Cristopher Munoz double that inning and finished 2-for-3.Â
That was plenty of support for Smith who allowed just one hit, one walk, and had one hitter reach on an error. He improved to 10-0 with a 12 strikeout complete game shutout.Â
The Fire will head back down to West Palm Beach on Saturday April 27th to finish up the regular season with another doubleheader.Â
