BRUNSWICK, Ga. - Softball dropped the last game of its three-game series at Coastal Georgia 9-4.
Both teams got things going in the third inning, with Nicole Wasserstrom hitting an RBI single to score Hailey Brooks. The Mariners answered back in the bottom of the third with a two-run home run from Bryce Peacock to take the lead 2-1.Â
A home run for Leah Gonzalez tied the game up in the fourth at 2-2. The homer was Gonzalez's third of the season.Â
In the sixth, another Gonzalez hit scored Riley Sanders, and Chapel Cunningham scored on a passed ball to give the Fire the 4-2 advantage.Â
A big sixth inning gave the Mariners the advantage and sealed the game, scoring seven runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the 9-4 lead.Â
Wasserstrom and Gonzalez fueled the Fire offense with two hits each. Gonzalez added two RBIs and Wasserstrom had one.
The Fire now hold a 32-14 record (12-6 in SUN).Â
Southeastern will be back at home next weekend to host Keiser University in their final series of the regular season.
