#3 Fire women's tennis got all they could handle from #7 SCAD Savannah this afternoon and fell in the conference regular season conclusion 4-0 to the Bees from Georgia.
Doubles set the tone for the contest, the first two flights were finished in short order. Francina Puig Llompart and Alessia Piccoliori blanked #38
Martina Picardi and
Simone Simas, and not long after the Fire's flight two consisting of
Flaminia Guidantoni and
Ingrid Montserrat was defeated 6-2 by #44 Sofia Ragona and Priya Sukkhana.
Flight three of doubles went unfinished, however, the Bees held the lead in that match as well, 5-4 with Cherry Xiang and Lisa Konrad of SCAD-Savannah ahead of
Irene Lopez and
Neleah Neiberline.
Singles was much of the same story for the Fire. Only two sets were won by Southeastern and the Bees claimed all the rest, securing the needed three wins to go along with their point earned in doubles.
The first win for SCAD Savannah came in line two as #49 Piccoliori defeated Neiberline 6-2, 6-1, next came #53 Puig Llompart over Lopez 6-4, 6-1 in line six, and lastly in line one #19 Picardi fell to Yue Yu 6-4, 6-2.
Lines three, four, and five went unfinished.
The Fire dropped to (12-4, 5-2 SUN) and SCAD-Savannah advanced to (11-4, 6-1 SUN)
Southeastern returns to action in Daytona Beach, Fla. for a contest against Embry-Riddle on April 18, the first serve will be at 3:30 p.m. After that they take off for the Sun Conference Championships hosted by Coastal Georgia in Brunswick, Ga. The tournament will start April 24, and go through April 26.
