LAKELAND, Fla.—Southeastern posted 11 extra-base hits at the plate and five pitchers combined to strike out 13 in a complete game shutout victory on Tuesday.
The Fire scored 17 runs on 17 hits against New College of Florida to improve to 28-2 with a 17-0 win to win their 17
th consecutive contest.
Chayce Bryant drove in five runs with a single in the first, a solo homer in the second, and a three-run homer in the fifth.
Isaac Nunez drove in three, including an RBI double in the second at-bat of the contest, then had a two-run homer in the second, joining Bryant and Brandon Mondragon to homer during a five-run second to take a 9-0 lead.
Southeastern plated seven in the fifth on just three hits with an RBI single by Mondragon, Bryant's second home run, and a double by
Josh Smith.
Edward Surinach drove in the final run with a single to center field in the sixth.
Agnel Miranda registered the win, striking out a pair of hitters over two innings of work. Miranda got out of a jam in the first with runners at first and second with a strikeout, pop out, and line out.
Andrew Long struck out all three hitters he faced in the fifth, and
Jake Cohen struck out five of the six he faced over the final two innings.
Southeastern will travel to Reinhardt for a three-game series this weekend against the 11
th-ranked Eagles.
