Box Score Southeastern completed their four game series at Babson Park, home of the #4 Webber International Warrior, claiming the last game in a 4-0 shutout. With the win the #1 Fire advanced to (23-2, 4-0 SUN) on the season and Webber drops to (21-7, 0-4 SUN).
The pitchers were the star of the show in this contest.
Cobe Reeves pitched eight of the nine innings, working very efficiently, striking out 11 batters and only throwing 95 pitches. The Fire defense backed up
Lex Garcia who finished off the ordeal, as the last three outs of the game came on fielding plays. There were no walks given from the Fire pitchers.
Luis Gonzalez crossed home plate for the initial run of the game as
Cristopher Munoz sprinted down the line for an infield single. Munoz scored a run and collected one hit in three at bats and Gonzalez went on to have his best day of the season thus far, going 3-4.
Josh Smith drove home a run in the seventh,
Josh Pigozzo in the eighth, and
Isaac Nunez plated a run in the ninth. For Smith the RBI was his only hit of the game in three at bats, Pigozzo had another stellar game going 3-for-4 with the aforementioned RBI. Nunez went 1-for-4 with a RBI, walk, and stolen base.
The Fire batters reached base on 12 hits, and Reeves collected his third win of the season, maintaining his perfect record while not walking a single batter.
Southeastern returns to action this coming Thursday as the Royals of Warner University pay a visit to Ted A. Broer stadium for a four game series of Sun Conference play. The first pitch of the opening game is at 6 p.m.
