Fire Pull Out Five-Set Victory over Warriors

BABSON PARK, Fla. – Cambry Pope put an exclamation point on an intense match, leading Southeastern University to a 3-2 women's volleyball win at Webber International University.

Pope pounded four-straight kills and teamed with Chapel Cunningham on a fifth point in a row for a 9-4 fifth-set SEU lead. The Warriors rallied back with five-straight points late in the set to pull within a point, 14-13, before Yarelis Lopez lined the match-ending kill for the 15-13 final.

Set scores were 19-25, 25-22, 25-23, 27-25, and 15-13. 

With the win, the Fire improve to 15-4 (8-2 SUN) and complete the season series sweep after prevailing by a 3-0 final on Sept. 25 in Lakeland. Webber drops to 8-14 (6-5 SUN).

Pope produced the big night with 25 kills and 23 digs while she added five block assists, three aces and two assists. Lopez was the other double-figure kill producer with 15 kills, while digging 24 attacks.

Alexandra Postlethwaite (26) and Haven Speer (27) combined for 53 assists and 17 digs. Postlethwaite finished with nine digs, while Speer had eight.

Cunningham contributed six total blocks, six kills and four digs, while Sylvia Liszewski chipped in five kills, four blocks and two digs. Angelina Vaccaro logged four kills and six digs and Camdyn Gebhard had three kills and three blocks.

Marysa Conners led the back row with 26 digs, three assists and one important ace.

The Fire return to action on Homecoming this Saturday when Florida Memorial comes to town for a Saturday afternoon matinee starting at 1:30 p.m.. The match is the rescheduled contest from earlier in the month which wasn't played due to Hurricane Milton.
