Fire Start and Finish Strong, Top Royals

LAKELAND, Fla. – After Warner University tied the match in the second half, Southeastern University's Izzy Tomlin put the Fire on top to stay, as the Fire beat the Royals, 3-2, in Sun Conference women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon.

With the visiting Royals tying the contest, 2-2, at 71:15, the Fire regrouped and saw both Madelyn Davidson and Gaia Iacuzzi put balls on the net, which were saved at 74:19 and 79:40. Davidson took another pair of shots with the second on goal and was credited with the assist six second later at 82:14 on Tomlin's game-winning blast. Warner made a final charge with four shots, but SEU goalie Ella Sebree turned away the one that made its way to the net over the final 3:33 and sealed the win.

The Fire improve to 5-6-1 and completed the season sweep of the rival Royals (3-9-1). SEU won the Oct. 2 match-up in Lake Wales, 3-0.

Along with the assist on the Tomlin goal, her first collegiate score, Davidson netted the day's first goal. Iacuzzi posted the second SEU goal, while Katie Carnes and Danielle Vogel assisted on the opening pair.

Sebree stopped a total of four Warner shots on goal over the 90-minute match.

Davidson deposited Carnes pass into the Warner goal for a 1-0 lead at 20:33. Less than 12 minutes later, Iacuzzi made it a 2-0 tally off Vogel's helper.

Jillian Johnson accounted for both of the Warner goals coming at 63:44 and 71:15 to tie the match, 2-2.
