MARSHALL, Mo.—
Kael Brisker improved to 11-1 with four major decisions during his two trips to the Missouri Valley Invitational.
The 17
th-ranked junior won the 141-pound title at the 2024 Missouri Valley Invitational, racking up a total of 51 match points. His first of three ranked wins on the day was in the third round against No. 16 Kyler Adams of Midway with a 13-1 major decision. In the quarterfinal round, Brisker was an 11-2 major decision winner over No. 5 Caden Manion of Oklahoma City who was an All-American last season. Brisker came away with a 4-1 win in the semis over No. 11 Jackson Wenberg of Graceland and was an 8-2 winner in the final over Life's Bret Minor.
Graham Calhoun finished third in the 174-pound bracket with his only loss coming in the semifinals against No. 11 Daniil Gorshkov of Embry-Riddle (Ariz.). The 18
th-ranked junior also picked up a 5-3 decision over No. 5 Tre Morrisette in the quarters and a 5-1 decision over Morrisette in the third-place match.
Trevor Borom finished sixth in the 125-pound bracket, winning four times in the consolation bracket and
Andreus Bond was seventh at 157, winning three consecutive matches after a quarterfinal loss to fourth-ranked Kanaipono Tapia of Menlo.
The Fire will return to the mats next Saturday for the Appalachian Athletic Conference duals in Cleveland, Ga.
