Volleyball Wins 3-0 Over Webber

BABSON PARK, Fla. - Southeastern volleyball swept Webber International tonight in a 3-0 win on the road.

Tatyana Lyons had a strong day for the Fire, recording nine kills and a hitting percentage of .412, along with five blocks. Grace Petty had 12 kills and Alexandra Postlethwaite led in assists with 19. Brooke Henry led the game in digs with 14.

The Fire jumped out early on the Warriors, taking a quick 6-0 lead in the first set. This forced a Webber timeout, but the Warriors couldn't gain momentum and fell short 25-19 in set one. Petty had four kills in set one alone, while Postlethwaite handed out six assists.

Set two started off with a pair of kills by Chapel Cunningham and Cambry Pope, giving the Fire an early advantage. Webber struggled early on with a handful of attack errors, allowing Southeastern to stretch the lead to 9-2.

Webber went on a 5-0 run in the second set, cutting it to 11-10, but Petty answered with a pair of kills. Southeastern picked up a few more kills and points off attack errors and took set two 25-16.

In the third set, the Warriors kept things interesting, never falling behind more than a few points and tying the set up four different times, at eight, 20, 21, and 22. The Fire took the final set 25-23 after kills by Cunningham and Emilia Harding, followed by a Webber service error to give the Fire the win.

As a team, Southeastern combined for 36 kills, 57 digs, and 35 assists.

The Fire will play in their first home contest tomorrow night at 6 p.m. vs. Trinity College at the Furnace.
