LAKELAND, Fla.- The No. 9 ranked Southeastern men's tennis team kept their undefeated streak alive today as they won their first Sun Conference contest of the season against Warner University by a score of 6-1.
Victor Olivera and
Federico Barbon earned the first Fire victory after taking a 6-2 win at line two doubles with a line one victory following from
Christian Garay and
Diego Menendez, securing the doubles point with a 6-2 match score.
Guido Luna and
Enrique Martinez also earned a doubles win at line three by a score of 6-3.
Luna then went on to secure the Fire's first singles victory at line five by set scores of 6-1 and 6-2 with Garay following at line one with a victory by scores of 6-0 and 6-3.
At line three, Menendez advanced the Fire lead to 4-0 with two set victories by scores of 6-2.
Olivera would fall at line two after dropping set one 7-6 and the tiebreaker 7-4 and set two 6-2.
With the score at 4-1, Barbon took a three-set victory at line four after taking the first set 6-3, dropping set two 6-1, and earning the match victory with an 11-9 win in set three.
The final Fire win came at line six with Martinez taking set one 6-4 and set two 7-6 (7-3 tiebreaker) to secure the Fire's 6-1 win.
Southeastern will next head to Georgia Gwinnett College this weekend as they take on three NAIA Top 25 ranked opponents and one receiving votes in four days.
