LAKELAND, Fla.—A 57% shooting effort in the first half and stops on Point's last seven possessions gave Southeastern a 76-73 win on Saturday.
After trailing 45-35 at halftime and by as much as 12 with 1:45 left in the second, the Skyhawks put up 28 points in the third quarter on 10-of-13 shooting from the field and connected on four 3-pointers to lead 63-61 going to the fourth quarter.
With 3:47 to play in the contest, Point connected on another 3-pointer to push its advantage to four at 73-69. It was the final basket of the game for the Skyhawks as the Fire closed the game on a 7-0 run and held Point to 0-of-3 shooting with no offensive rebounds and three turnovers.
Southeastern (7-4) opened the game 8-of-14 from the field with five makes on its nine 3-point attempts in the opening quarter for a 25-20 lead. The Fire made eight more shots in the second, outscoring the Skyhawks 20-15.
Kassidy Jones was the catalyst on offense with a season-high 16 points, making all four of her first half shots.
Bekki Kalaydjiev added 12 points and a game-high six assists to go along with six rebounds and three steals.
Anaya Coleman added 12 off the bench, going 4-of-8 from the field.
Kiki Britzmann added 10 points, going 8-of-9 at the line.
Rebecca Cook led the way in rebounding with seven.
The Fire will take on Saint Francis (Ind.) on Saturday at Ave Maria.
