LAKELAND, Fla.—Southeastern connected on better than 50% of its field goal attempts for the second time this season, leading to a 73-53 win over Bethel (Tenn.) Monday afternoon at The Furnace and ending the Wildcats' 11-game win streak.
Of the 27 missed shots by the Fire today, 17 were from 3-point range.
The Fire (8-4) also forced 19 turnovers on defense and limited Bethel (11-3) to 32% from the field and held leading scorer Madison Hart to just six points on 2-of-7 shooting.
Kiki Britzmann and
Bekki Kalaydjiev both finished with 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field. Britzmann was 2-of-4 from 3-point range and had five rebounds. Her triple at the 2:36 mark of the second quarter gave the Fire a 30-16 lead to help the Fire close the half on an 8-2 run and hold a 35-18 advantage at the break. Kalaydjiev added six assists and four steals to the winning effort. Half of her assists came in the fourth quarter.
Anaya Coleman scored half of her team-high 14 points in the fourth quarter on 3-of-4 shooting to spur a 21-20 advantage in the final frame. She also finished with a team-high nine rebounds.
The Fire will be off the next 11 days before traveling to Webber International to take on Shawnee State on December 29
th at 1 p.m.
