AUSTIN, Texas—Southeastern had seven players selected to the College Sports Communicators NAIA Football Academic All-District Team, released Tuesday afternoon.
To be eligible for nomination, a student-athlete must have played two-thirds of the team's games or started 90% and hold at least a 3.5 GPA and have completed two semesters of college.
Earning the honor for the Fire were wide receivers
Shane McLaughlin and
Leroy Lopez, linebackers
James Hamilton and
Trever Dorris, running back
Josiah Neos, tight end Mathias Neos, and offensive lineman
Jacob Ford.
McLaughlin had a team high 366 receiving yards and added two touchdowns. Lopez recorded 100 receiving yards and a score this year.
Josiah Neos was an All-Sun Conference selection with 780 rushing yards and nine touchdowns.
Hamilton was third on the team in tackles with 48 and added three interceptions and a sack. Dorris was right behind him despite missing the final game of the season with 45 tackles and a fumble recovery.
All will be considered for Academic All-America honors which will be released in January.
