BATAVIA, Ohio—Southeastern created some space for itself in the second half of an 82-45 win at University of Cincinnati Clermont on Saturday for its sixth win of the year.
A 9-4 run by UC Clermont in the middle of the second quarter got the hosts within two at 26-24 with 4:24 left in the first half but the Fire countered with a 12-2 run to close out the quarter to hold a 38-26 halftime lead.
The Fire (6-4) outscored the Cougars 44-19 in the second half and shot 48.6% from the field in the second 20 minutes.
Mya Herman and
Rebecca Cook had six points each in the third and in the fourth, the Fire forced six turnovers and held the defending USCAA Division II champs to just 1-of-11 from the field.
Herman finished with eight points, eight rebounds, four steals and two assists.
Anja Knoflach led a trio of players in double figures with 15 points, followed by
Bekki Kalaydjiev with 14, and
Kassidy Jones with 13, connecting on three 3-pointers.
Anaya Coleman led the rebounding effort with 13, including four on the offensive glass and added eight points, four assists and three steals.
The Fire will host Point University next Saturday at The Furnace at 2 p.m.
