GREAT FALLS, Mont.—The Fire won a pair of ranked duals to move to 3-1 on the season during the first day of competition at the Battle of the Rockies, hosted by the University of Providence.
Southeastern defeated No. 8 Montana State Northern 34-6, then knocked off No. 11 Providence 19-14.
The Fire had a pair of technical falls and a pair of pins in their first match of the day and won the first six matches to lock up the match early.
Trace Braun was responsible for the first fall, picking up his first of two Top 10 wins on the day with a fall over No. 9 Devin Crawford in just 23 seconds.
Gentry Smith picked up a 4-2 win over No. 9 Carl Hansen, and
Gabe Jacobs closed the match with a first-period fall.
The dual against Providence saw each team get bonus points just once on major decisions, but the Fire took the dual by winning six of the 10 matches.
Braun defeated No. 4 Bridger Hall, holding off a late charge by Bridger to win 9-8. A 4-2 win by
Gentry Smith over No. 17 Liam Swanson secured the dual.

The Fire will participate in the open tournament tomorrow at Providence.
