LAKELAND, Fla.—Southeastern finished the SEU Invitational with an 0-2 record after a 64-42 loss to John Brown on Saturday.
The teams were tied at 20 at halftime, but the Golden Eagles (3-3) made 10 of their 15 shots in the third quarter and were 4-of-5 from 3-point range after making just five total field goals in the first half to pull away.
Southeastern (3-3) was 5-of-15 from the field in the third quarter and went just 2-of-13 in the fourth quarter to finish the night 26.8% from the field.
The Fire held just a 9-7 lead after 10 minutes with John Brown going 1-of-17 from the field in the opening quarter. Southeastern led by five points with 2:55 left in the half after a 3-pointer by
Mya Herman and a steal by
Rebecca Cook which she converted into a layup.
Herman led the Fire with 10 points, connecting on a pair of 3-pointers. Cook led the rebounding effort with a season-high 13.
Tuesday, the Fire will host the University of Puerto Rico-Bayamon at noon.
