Volleyball Sweeps Florida Memorial on Road

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - The Fire swept Sun Conference opponent Florida Memorial today on the road to advance their record 14-3 and 6-1 in SUN.

Southeastern totaled 54 digs and 51 kills along with a .442 hitting percentage in the match, which is their best team percentage in conference play thus far.

In set one, the Fire jumped out early and forced a quick Lions timeout. A string of kills by Tatyana Lyons, Emilia Harding, and Chapel Cunningham gave Southeastern the early advantage with a kill from each early on. Southeastern then jumped out 16-6 and the Lions could never gain momentum offensively. The Fire hit .565 and took set one 25-11.

The Fire jumped right back into action in set two, going on a 5-1 run. The Lions could never take the lead as the Fire then advanced the lead 17-11. They had 17 kills in the set alone off of 32 attack attempts, taking the 2-0 lead 25-17 in the second set.

In set three, the Lions battled back, taking the lead early on to start the set. Southeastern responded, taking the lead 9-7 and forcing a Lions timeout. After another run by the Fire, they lead 16-11. The Fire took the final set off a service error by the Lions, winning 25-19. 

Cambry Pope led the match with 13 kills and eight digs. Harding followed with ten kills, while Grace Petty and Chapel Cunningham both had nine. 

Brooke Henry led the match in digs with 13. Petty followed with 12 digs.

Alexandra Postlethwaite led in assists with 34 on the match. 

Southeastern is back on the road next Tuesday as they take on Trinity College at 6 p.m.
