Volleyball Cruises Past Trinity

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla.—Southeastern picked up its 15th win of the season in a straight-sets victory over Trinity College Tuesday night.
 
The Fire committed just three attack errors on the night with one in each set and posted a .547 team hitting percentage to win 25-4, 25-11, 25-8. They also held the Tigers to just 14 kills and a -.096 attacking percentage.
 
Just three different players served for SEU in the first set, using a run of 16 straight points with Grace Petty at the service line. She finished the night with five kills on six attempts with two aces and three digs.
 
Southeastern held a 13-1 lead in the second set with Chloe Rhodes serving 11 straight points. The Tigers made a late charge, registering half of their kills in the match during the set. The Fire defense was able to come up with some big plays, registering two of their four blocks on the game during the second.
 
The Fire recorded 11 kills on 19 attempts in the final set and forced nine Trinity attack errors to finish the match.
 
Emilia Harding led the Fire offense with nine kills on 13 attempts (.692) in two sets, and added a pair of digs. Cambry Pope had eight kills on 11 attacks (.727) with three digs and helped out on a block in two sets. Ten different players had at least one kill.
 
Alexandra Postlethwaite had 14 assists, Ava Connors added 10, and Lucy Montgomery chipped in eight. Montgomery also had a pair of kills and a team-best 12 digs in the match.
 
The Fire will return to Sun Conference play tomorrow night at home against Coastal Georgia at 7 p.m.
