WILLIAMSBURG, Ky.—The Fire were held without a shot on goal in the second half of their first loss of the season.
Southeastern dropped to 4-1-1 with a 3-1 loss at the University of the Cumberlands Thursday night.
Shots were hard to come by for the Fire in the first half, but keeper
Holly Eddins kept SEU in it with four saves in the first 45 minutes.
In the 32
nd minute,
Mashell Rodriguez picked up her first goal of the season tapping a cross from the left wing into the upper right corner of the net.
The hosts responded with a goal just over three minutes into the second half on a ball that was served in from the midfield took a high bounce on the artificial surface over the head of Eddins and was hit into the back of the net by Ainhoa Camara.
Just over 10 minutes later, Camara served Jayden Boelter for the go-ahead goal. Boelter picked up her ninth of the season in the 63
rd minute for the game's final tally.
Southeastern generated five corner kicks in the match, but were outshot 10-2 on goal.
Eddins finished with seven saves.
The Fire will take on No. 24 Campbellsville on Saturday at noon.
