MOBILE, Ala.—Southeastern won its first postseason match since 2015 with a 4-0 win over Midland to advance to the Round of 16 at the NAIA National Championship.
The Fire are making their first appearance at the NAIA Championship.
A pair of 6-2 wins by the No. 1 and No. 3 Doubles teams got the Fire a 1-0 lead going to singles play with
Martina Picardi and
Priscila Baptista winning at the top line and
Neleah Neiberline and
Irene Lopez coming away with the other win.
Sophomore
Abigail Damon made it 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 win at Line 6 and Baptista won 6-3, 6-2 to make it 3-0 with her win at Line 3. The match was called after Neiberline's 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 4 to set up a second-round match with No. 3 LSU Alexandria.
